The Challenge
Absolute Collagen came to us with several challenges.
Firstly, product positioning. The promise of visible changes to skin, hair and nails can take up to three months of consistent use to fully materialise. With only a 14-day supply available for gifting, demonstrating those results through a traditional influencer campaign posed a logistical challenge.
Secondly, target customer. She’s 30 plus, responding to people she trusts, over time, not trends or hype. Anti-ageing beauty also tends to flatten its audience into one story: fight the wrinkles, buy the cream. The reality inside Absolute Collagen’s customer base was more varied. Different ages, different life stages, different reasons for taking collagen in the first place. A campaign built for one persona would miss most of them.
So the brief wasn’t to get more people talking about Absolute Collagen. It was to get the right people talking about it for months, not days.
The Approach
Ageing Powerfully, Not Anti-Ageing
The starting point was the product story itself. Anti-ageing fights the clock. Ageing Powerfully, which incidentally was Absolute Collagen’s brand platform, describes something a 30-year-old and a 50-year-old can both recognise in themselves, at different points in their own timeline. We used this platform to strategically target different ages, life stages and motivations, instead of one narrowing the persona.
Professional Credibility
The three-month wait was still a problem no reframe could solve alone. Strategic analysis in COmpass pointed to an answer: hair and skin professionals already had audiences that trusted their judgement before a single visible result came in. Bringing in this professional niche let the brand speak credibly about longer-term benefit while individual creators were still building their own proof.
Relationship Building
Charlie Oscar treated this as a talent search. Every creator relationship started with the same instinct: find people who’d genuinely want the product, then invest in keeping them. Mass seeding ran every month, over 100 creators at a time, and the strongest, most consistent voices were funnelled into Collagen Collective – an affiliate community, where the relationship continued well past a single post.

Relationships Matter In Considered Categories
Products that need time to prove themselves need creator relationships that last longer than a single post. A 14-day gift can’t produce three months of proof, so we built for the long game instead.
Running 100+ creators through the funnel each month wasn’t about reach, it was about finding the ones worth investing in further. The affiliate model turned the best of them into a compounding channel rather than a one-off spend.
Multi Dimensional Casting Always Wins
Where the product can’t yet speak for itself, expert voices can.
Hair and skin professionals gave Absolute Collagen a way to talk about long-term benefit before individual creators had their own results to share. That closed the trust gap in the interim. Any considered-purchase brand should ask who already has credibility with its audience, and borrow it honestly.
